New Features from Downstream

Advanced Dashboard Sharing and Permissions Controls

Released on 11/19/2019

Prior to this release, Dashboards were visible to all users within an organization. If two users wanted to collaborate on a Dashboard, both needed an organizational-level permission to "manage dashboards", granting edit access to all Dashboards.

As of today, users have much more control over the permissions for their Dashboards. Dashboards permissions can now be defined at the following levels:

  • Private: Only the user that created the Dashboard has read/write access

  • Entire Organization can View: Everyone in the user's organization has read access

  • Entire Organization can Edit: Everyone in the user's organization has read/write access

  • Custom: User-level permissions for both read/write access

Sharing settings available to individual dashboards

Additionally, the Dashboard homepage now distinguishes between Dashboards "Owned By You" and "Shared with You". This organization will make it easier to locate Dashboards.

You can get started with Advanced Dashboard Sharing and Permissions Controls today in Downstream by navigating to any Dashboard you created and clicking the "Share" icon.
