Dashboard Widgets
Dashboard → Available Widgets Types
Create custom dashboards in your Downstream account with widgets that allow you to view and analyze specific data. Each widget can be customized to fit your specific needs and you can select data sources that you wish to be displayed within your widget. Currently there are five widget types to choose from.
NOTE: For information on how to create a Dashboard and the basics of a widget, see this article.
Widget Types

1. Time Series Chart

A time series chart can be a line chart or a column chart, where the X-Axis is always data points at successive intervals of time. You can select one or two metrics for the Y-Axes.
NOTE: For more information on how to set up your Time Series Chart see this article.
2. Categorical Chart

A Categorical Chart can be a Pie Chart or a Column Chart, where you select a "Group By" category — such as Campaign or Portfolio — and a metric.
NOTE: For more information on how to set up your Categorical Chart see this article.
3. Table

To utilize a Table widget, select "Group By" categories and as many metrics as you'd like. Each category and metric is a column in the table, and the categories that the table is grouped by combine to form the basis of each row.
NOTE: For more information on how to set up a Table see this article.
4. Metric

The Metric widget displays as one or more metrics with an optional notation that compares the metric to a prior period.
NOTE: For more information on how to set up Metric see this article.
5. Custom Text

The Custom Text widget allows you to add custom text as a widget within a Dashboard. These are typically used as an introduction to the Dashboard tab, or a footnote at the end of a Dashboard tab.
NOTE: For more information on how to set up Custom Text see this article.
Dashboard → How to Configure Your Widgets
With each widget type, there are different configurations and settings that need to be taken into consideration when creating your data charts. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to set up your widget configurations.
How to Set Up Your Widget Type Configurations
To learn how to access widgets and set up your dashboard, see this article.
NOTE: For all widgets, you can choose an optional Title and/or Description, and you can narrow the focus of the chart by adding filters.
How to Set Up a Time Series Chart Configuration

Configuration Steps:
Select a Primary Metric (Left Y-Axis) value that you would like to view within your Time Series Chart. The chart will show the aggregate of the chosen metric from the Data Source you selected.
If you wish, you can either add in a secondary metric (Right Y-Axis) value or a Group By value to show additional information. (This step is optional)
Using Group By will cause the chart to show additional lines (or columns) based on the Group By that you select. For example, if you choose Return on Advertising Spend (RoAS %) as your primary metric and group by Portfolio, the chart will display each one of your Portfolios as a separate line, showing the RoAS (%) over time for each Portfolio.
Optional Configurations:
Time Aggregate (X-Axis) - This option allows you to choose how you would like to view your data by week or month.
Chart Type - This option allows you to choose how you would like to visualize the data.
Stacked - This option allows you to show the chart as stacked or not.
Limit Results - If you selected Group By, you can limit the number of lines (or columns) you see.
Include Others - This option shows the aggregate of all other results in a data set when only a certain number of top results are selected to show. This option becomes available if you select Group By. This feature can be used, for example, if you select Show Top 5 campaigns and include others, your chart will show the top five campaigns in the given time range with the metric(s) you provided, and also show a sixth line that aggregates all other campaigns.
Event Annotations - These will show up in your chart and help you track data to real world events.
Compare Metrics to Prior Period - You can toggle this on if you do not have a Group By selected. This will show a dashed line representing the prior period or year-over-year data on the same chart.
How to Set Up a Categorical Chart Configuration

Configuration Steps:
Select a Metric value you would like to view within your Categorical chart.
Then, select a Group By value to add in additional information to your Categorical chart.
For example, if you select "Brand" the Chart will divide up by Brand to display your chosen metric.
Optional Configurations:
Chart Type - This option allows you to choose how you would like to visualize the data.
Limit Results: This option allows you to display a limited number of results, if you have added in Grouped By where there are many results.
Include Others - This option shows the aggregate of all other results in a data set when only a certain number of top results are selected to show.
For example you can select to Show Top 5 campaigns and include others, your chart will show the top number of campaigns, and also show a sixth result that aggregates all other campaigns.
How to Set Up a Table Configuration

Configuration Steps:
The columns in the table are configured by what you select in the Group By and Metrics fields. Each addition to those inputs will add a corresponding column.
Select a Group By value. This will add a corresponding column. It also determines the content of each row in the table.
Then select Metrics to add a value you would like to view within your table. Any metrics that you add will be additional columns in the table.
Optional Configurations:
Compare Metrics to Prior Periods - This allows you to add "change" columns for each Metric. It will show a comparison of your metrics against another period of time.
Show “Total Row” for Metrics - This option will add a row showing the sum for each column.
How to Set Up a Metric Configuration

Configuration Steps:
Select a Metric value you would like to view within your widget. Each metric will show up individually in the widget.
Optional Configurations:
Show Full Metric Value - This option allows you to see the full value of each metric. By default, Downstream abbreviates and rounds longer numbers so that they are easier to read at a glance.
Compare Metrics to Prior Period - This option allows you to see a notation under each metric that compares the metric to a prior period.
Goals - This option allows you to select a goal metric. You can turn this on and set a goal you want to reach for the time period you want to look at. For example you can turn this option on and set a target budget for a specific time period.
How to Set Up a Custom Text Configuration

Custom Text allows you to add in footnotes, descriptions of the dashboard, widget information, etc.
Configuration Steps:
Enter in the information you want to appear within Dashboards into the Text Content section.
